DEBLOIS, MAINE -- 06/01/2017 -- University of Maine student Alex Chandler holds a blueberry plant stem that shows the browning leaf a sign of mummy berry. UMaine researchers are conducting a study on mummy berry, a fungal blueberry disease that can reduce crop yields by a significant amount. The disease is spread via pollinators such as bees, but researchers are trying to find out why native bees spread significantly less mummy berry disease than imported honeybees.
