CORINTH, MAINE -- 05/01/2015 - Roger Meserve, 36, of Cornith takes a dose of Suboxone after waking up Friday at the place he rents in Corinth. Meserve started doing drugs when he was eight years old. "It filled a hole that needed to be filled," he explained. At age 17 he started using heroin. By 2005 he was up to 50 bags a day of heroine. That's when he decided to get clean. For four years he was on liquid methadone and made the switch to Suboxone after not liking the effects of methadone. First from the streets, then getting a legitimate prescription in 2013 from the Discovery House in Bangor. Merserve explained that if the governor cut funding for methadone, that many addicts would suffer. "I know people on methadone and it's the right drug for them, it saved their lives, " said Merserve.
