Edward Grew a geologist and research professor at the University of Maine with a rock sample from Antarctica that contains the mineral Prismatine. Grew has discovered several minerals himeself and he was instrumental in the revalidation of prismatine. Russian geologists Evgeny Galuskin and Irina Galuskina named two recently discovered minerals edgrewite and hydroxyledgrewite in honor of Grew who has been working in this field for over 40 years.
