WATERVILLE, MAINE -- 01/31/2016 - Tom Picard checks his weld during his 12-hour shift at the Huhtamaki plant in Waterville Monday. Picard says he lives "the new normal." As a millworker, he has been laid off ten times since 1980. Now, with home prices in the dumpster in his hometown of Millinocket, he can't sell his nearly paid off home for fair value, so he commutes to his new job 130 miles away, at the Huhtamaki plant in Waterville.
