Old Town, ME — April 28, 2017 — Tammy Beaupre (right), the tenant at 178 Brunswick Street in Old Town who called 911 Tuesday evening after hearing what sounded like a small explosion in the upstairs apartment, is visited by Jim Ballanger on Friday morning who was looking for more information about what happened. Ballanger’s daughter, Carrie Ballanger, lived in that upstairs apartment with Jason Smith and is one of four people charged with aggrevated unlawful operation of a meth lab. Ballanger said his daughter has been enrolled in a methodone program and to the best of his knowledge has been in recovery for about two years. Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says four people were arrested Thursday and charged in connection with a meth lab discovered inside the apartment house and the body of a fifth person being sought was located on Wednesday in a house a short distance away.
