Though not inhabited year-round, Baker Island is home to a lighthouse tower, two privately owned seasonal cottages and the Gilley homestead, which was established in the early 1800s. While Acadia National Park has owned land on the island since 1967, the Coast Guard owns and operates the automated, solar-powered light.
