The dining room of Flagstaff Lake Hut is empty in the middle of the day on Monday, March 12, 2012, but that evening, the table will be filled with guests enjoying a homemade pizza, squash soup, cabbage and lemon pie. The lodge opened in 2009 as the second lodge in the Maine Huts & Trails backcountry trail network in western Maine. The tables and chairs were crafted by Maine artisans, Native Woods and W. A. Flagstaff Lake Lodge opened in 2009 as the second lodge in the Maine Huts & Trails backcountry trail network in western Maine. As of March 2012, the hut-to-hut network includes 45 miles of trails from Sugarloaf ski resort to West Forks, and a third lodge was added in 2010. Aislinn Sarnacki | BDN
